Arts and Crafts
You don’t have to go live in a busy city to be creative. Many designers, artists, sculptors, potters, creators and makers have found their creative spark in Carmarthenshire. In a place so beautiful and dramatic, it’s hard not be creative. The landscape, the history and the people all inspire. You can buy the results of their creativity in the craft shops, boutiques, studios, galleries and markets found all over the county.
During a visit to Carmarthenshire there is also plenty of opportunity to discover the artist or poet in you. You’ll find courses or workshops for all sorts of arts and crafts. Or perhaps just walk in the footsteps of artists and poets and appreciate what got their creative juices flowing. As good a starting point as any is Dylan Thomas’ boathouse in Laugharne. Here you can look over the Laugharne estuary and the “Heron priested shore”.
Discover the creative in you. And along with it, a new meaning to ‘made in Carmarthenshire’.
Workshops
Why not get hands-on and skill-up in an art and craft of your choosing? Put your very own initials or maker’s mark on something you can proudly say is ‘made in Carmarthenshire?’ Across the county, you’ll find a range of venues offering exciting courses and workshops to enhance skills in crafts both traditional and modern. Fire your imagination in a blacksmithing course or tool leather belts and accessories. Throw a pot or splash about in paint. Invest in an eco-workshop and a sustainable future. Bring out the creative in you. Whatever your age, your ability, whether you’re in a group or one your own, Carmarthenshire’s got space and opportunity for your creative expression.
