RSPB Rhandirmwyn

Keen to follow in the footsteps of our classic legends? The mythical wizard Merlin was born in Carmarthen and lies buried just outside the town, while Wales’ very own Robin Hood, Twm Siôn Cati, used to hide from his arch nemesis in a cave in Dinas Hill, now a beautiful RSPB nature reserve. Combine legend-locating with wonderful walking at Llyn y Fan Fach, a sparkling lake in which an enchantress is said to dwell. It’s one of many tales from the Mabinogion, Britain’s earliest prose literature, that unfolded in Carmarthenshire.
