Springtime in Carmarthenshire

As the days grow longer and the sun gets a little warmer, Carmarthenshire springs into life. It’s time, to follow the sun and head west. Take natures lead and come alive. Whether you chose the mountains or the coast. There’s plenty to give your senses a springtime workout.

Fresh, fragrant and flourishing. Words often associated with spring and so descriptive of Carmarthenshire at this time of year. Spring is a time of reawakening and renewal. And there is nowhere better to recharge the batteries and inject fresh energy than our beautiful, blossoming and buzzing county, just at the end of the M4.

Yes, it’s time to take a leaf out of the warming suns book and head west. The mild westerly wind from the Atlantic mean that spring arrives just a bit sooner than many other places in the UK. The winds bring the ingredients of new life; warmth and water, the triggers for a lively and lovely new season.

Rejuvenate your body after winter hibernation. Fill your lungs with fresh air during that well-earned springtime walk. Our ancient woodlands are carpeted white and blue as the wild garlic and bluebells compete for attention during that well-earned springtime walk. For the best views there’s lots of mountains to climb. The “Carmarthen Fans” mark the western edge of the Bannau Brecheiniog National Park in the Brecon Beacons, whilst in the north of the county the Cambrian mountains rise and touch the setting sun.

To the south the terrain is gentler, and springtime is a great time to walk or cycle the Millennium Coastal path. Unsurprisingly spring is also when our gardens burst into colour. And if your senses need even more stimulation, you can taste springtime in our renowned restaurants pubs and markets, all offering fresh local produce.
